Moving Your House and Garden Plants How to
Moving Plants
Moving your plants with
you to your new home can bring something
familiar and homey to the atmosphere. Moving
plants can be difficult, but there are some
tips you can keep in mind to ensure that
your plants make it safely to your new home.
Before you plan on
moving your plants, you may want to contact
a florist or plant specialist to see if
there are any special things you need to do
with your plants before packing them.
If you are moving
within your state, you will have a less
difficult time moving your plants. However,
you should keep in mind that you may have
some more difficulty moving your plants if
you are
moving out of state. If you are
moving out of state, you will need to
contact your moving company to check and see
if they move plants. If they don’t, you
will have to find other accommodations to
move your plants. You may need to hire a
professional plant carrier to transport your
plants. If you are moving across state
lines, you also need to check their laws to
see if you can transport plants across state
lines.
As moving day gets
closer, you should repot the plants you’re
taking in protective plastic containers. You
should also pack your plants in a dark
plastic bag with bug repellent. The closed
bag should then be placed in a cool space.
On the day before you
move, you should pack your plants in a
cardboard box. You should place some wet
towels or newspapers in the box to keep the
soil moist.
On moving day, your
packed plants should be kept separately, and
the movers should be instructed not to load
these boxes onto the
moving van. After the
move is complete, you should unpack your
plants as soon as possible to ensure they
survive intact.
